Two suspected porch pirates caught red-handed in Plateau-Mont-Royal

Two people face charges of theft and receiving stolen goods under $5,000 after they were arrested this week in the Plateau Mont-Royal borough.

At the time of the arrest, “the suspects had numerous items they had allegedly stolen from a residential building on St-Grégoire St.,” the police force said Thursday.

Police were responding to a 911 call about suspicious behaviour on Tuesday morning.

When officers arrived, the alleged parcel thieves — a woman, 29, and a man, 32 — attempted to flee on foot down an alleyway.

Montreal police say they have reason to believe the duo may be responsible for a series of recent break-ins in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or contact their local police station.

Information can also be reported anonymously to Info-Crime Montréal at 514-393-1133 or via infocrimemontreal.ca.
